A wine of genuine depth and elegance from the northern Rhône

  • Produced from venerable, low-yielding vines that impart considerable complexity and mineral character to this distinguished Hermitage. The age of these parcels contributes substantially to the wine's structure and longevity.
  • This is a wine built for the cellar. With its fine-grained tannins and well-balanced acidity, it will develop gracefully over the next two decades, rewarding patient collectors with deepening layers of flavour and refinement.
  • The aromatic profile reveals the hallmark elegance of northern Rhône Syrah: dark fruit, subtle florality, and mineral undertones combine to create a wine of genuine complexity. This is serious, food-friendly viticulture at its finest.

Product features : Domaine Paul Jaboulet - Hermitage Rouge la Chapelle 2017

On the eye
Deep garnet robe with excellent clarity and luminosity.
On the nose
A composed bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing ripe dark berries, violet, and white pepper. Subtle notes of liquorice and slate add mineral interest, with a whisper of cocoa in the background.
In the mouth
The palate displays admirable finesse. Silky tannins provide structure without aggression, whilst the fruit remains pure and focused. The finish is notably persistent, with a lingering mineral quality that speaks to the terroir.
M. Francois
This Hermitage is an excellent partner to beef—whether a fine côte de boeuf or a more rustic daube. It also complements game birds and venison beautifully. For the adventurous, its savoury depth works surprisingly well with dark chocolate desserts, particularly those with a bitter edge.
