Five generations of winemaking mastery

  • This cuvée expresses the distinctive character of Saint-Joseph's granite-based terroir with its shallow soils. The wine captures the mineral precision and depth that define this northern Rhône appellation, offering genuine complexity and structure.
  • A discreet, limited production that merits comparison with the finest Côte-Rôtie. La Sensonne demonstrates the calibre of serious Saint-Joseph, rewarding those who seek beyond the better-known appellations of the Rhône Valley.
  • Harmoniously balanced with genuine ageing potential. This is a wine that will develop beautifully over the coming decade, its power and elegance becoming increasingly refined as it matures in bottle.

Product features : Domaine Coursodon Saint-Joseph la Sensonne 2023

On the eye
Deep garnet red with excellent colour intensity.
On the nose
Richly aromatic with blackberry and cherry fruit, floral notes, and white pepper spice. The bouquet is layered and inviting, revealing the wine's complexity.
In the mouth
Volumetric and powerful yet refined. The palate shows excellent structure with ripe tannins and a sustained finish. Elegance and concentration are well-balanced throughout.
M. Francois
A wine of considerable merit with Mediterranean cuisine, particularly lamb, game, and herb-based dishes. The wine's power and spice complement grilled vegetables and aged cheeses admirably. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open fully and express its full aromatic range.

DOMAINE COURSODON

Based in Mauves, Ardèche, Domaine Coursodon farms 16 hectares of steep granite and schist terraces in the Saint-Joseph appellation, Vallée du Rhône. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the estate has passed through five generations: Jérôme Coursodon joined his father Pierre in 1998 and has steadily established it as one of the appellation's most authoritative addresses, producing Syrah-based reds and whites from Marsanne and Roussanne. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its élevage, the taut minerality of its whites, and the depth of its reds from terraces overlooking the Rhône. A characterful, HVE-certified estate we recommend without reservation to lovers of serious Saint-Joseph.
