The two principal varietals of the appellation, in harmony

  • A wine of considerable structure and poise. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Château Poujeaux's vineyard produces a wine that rewards both immediate enjoyment and patient cellaring.
  • Haut-Médoc appellation wines of this calibre represent the region's consistent ability to produce serious, age-worthy reds. Le Haut de Poujeaux exemplifies the terroir of the Left Bank.
  • Château Poujeaux has been a fixture of Moulis-en-Médoc for generations. This second wine carries the house's commitment to balance and finesse without compromise.

Breeding
Aged for one year in French oak barrels of two and three wines.
On the eye
Deep ruby robe with good intensity and clarity.
On the nose
Aromas of dark berries and cedar, with subtle spice and oak influence. The bouquet develops with air, revealing layers of graphite and dried herbs characteristic of mature Left Bank Bordeaux.
In the mouth
Powerful yet refined on the palate, with well-integrated tannins of a silky character. The mid-palate shows good concentration, whilst the finish remains elegant and persistent. Excellent balance between fruit and structure.
M. Francois
A versatile wine suited to aperitif service, lighter first courses, and a broad range of main courses—particularly roasted meats and game. Equally at home with mature cheeses. Drink now or cellar for five to eight years with confidence.
