Breeding
12 to 18 months in large wooden vats of 12 and 25 hectolitres (no new oak to avoid excessive woodiness).
On the eye
Deep ruby-red, limpid, with violet reflections in youth; evolving towards garnet with age.
On the nose
Wild red and dark berries—raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry—interwoven with pronounced minerality: flint, graphite. Floral notes of violet and faded rose, white pepper and liquorice, without herbaceous character.
In the mouth
Pure, direct attack with remarkable energy. Silken texture throughout. Tannins of exceptional finesse, almost powdery, a gift of the vines' advanced age and biodynamic cultivation.
Domaine des Roches Neuves, under Thierry Germain's stewardship, produces one of the Loire's finest red wines in this cuvée. Sourced from Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1904—amongst the region's oldest parcels—it embodies both historical depth and contemporary viticulture.

Domaine des Roches Neuves is a wine estate in the Saumur-Champigny appellation (Loire Valley), run by Thierry Germain. Around 28 hectares farmed biodynamically. Main grapes: Cabernet Franc (reds) and Chenin Blanc (whites). Limestone tuffeau soils. Cuvées: Terres Chaudes, Marginale, Franc de Pied. Wines of great precision and fine depth.
