Mastery refined through generations of family stewardship

  • This wine expresses the distinctive character of Saint-Joseph's granitic soils with remarkable clarity. The mineral foundation provides structure and definition, allowing the Syrah's natural elegance to emerge without artifice.
  • A harmonious composition built for patient cellaring. The wine possesses the balance and concentration necessary to develop further complexity over the coming years, rewarding those who choose to lay it down.
  • Syrah from this terroir delivers both generosity and restraint. Expect the grape's characteristic richness of dark fruit and spice, tempered by the granite's mineral precision and the vintage's natural acidity.

Breeding
Ageing for 15 months in barrels and demi-muids
On the eye
Deep purple robe with brilliant clarity and youthful intensity
On the nose
Elegant bouquet of red and dark berries with subtle spice notes. The aromatics suggest both immediate appeal and underlying complexity that will develop with time.
In the mouth
Full-bodied and complex on the palate. Abundant, well-integrated tannins frame concentrated ripe fruit. The wine displays good structure and concentration, with the mineral character of granite providing definition and length.
M. Francois
A wine of substance that pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, particularly saddle cuts where its tannin structure and dark fruit character complement the meat's richness. Also suited to game birds and aged cheeses. Best enjoyed from 2025 onwards, though approachable now.

DOMAINE COURSODON

Based in Mauves, Ardèche, Domaine Coursodon farms 16 hectares of steep granite and schist terraces in the Saint-Joseph appellation, Vallée du Rhône. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the estate has passed through five generations: Jérôme Coursodon joined his father Pierre in 1998 and has steadily established it as one of the appellation's most authoritative addresses, producing Syrah-based reds and whites from Marsanne and Roussanne. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its élevage, the taut minerality of its whites, and the depth of its reds from terraces overlooking the Rhône. A characterful, HVE-certified estate we recommend without reservation to lovers of serious Saint-Joseph.
