A wine of genuine complexity and balance. This is Cabernet Franc at its most compelling—neither over-extracted nor thin. It represents the authentic character of Saumur-Champigny, where tuffeau soil and careful winemaking combine to produce wines of genuine distinction and ageing potential.

Nicolas françois, propriétaire passionné des halles de quercamps

CHATEAU DU HUREAU

Set on the south-east-facing slopes of Dampierre-sur-Loire, Château du Hureau farms 20 hectares of classic tuffeau soils within the Saumur-Champigny appellation, certified organic since 2011. Philippe and Agathe Vatan have shaped the estate since 1987, drawing precise, mineral-driven wines from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, aged in a troglodyte cellar hewn from the rock in the twelfth century. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the integrity of its organic commitment and for wines that speak honestly of the Loire's chalky limestone terroir. A benchmark address on the south bank.
