The character and depth of Gascony in every glass

  • This blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot captures the distinctive strength and elegance of the Côtes de Gascogne region, offering a wine of genuine substance and regional authenticity.
  • With well-balanced tannins and pleasing length on the palate, it pairs naturally with robust fare: red meats, game, and aged cheeses. A wine built for the table rather than mere contemplation.
  • Careful oak élevage contributes subtle woody and peppery notes that add welcome complexity to its ripe fruit character, without overwhelming the wine's essential character.

On the eye
Deep, intense garnet. A wine of evident substance and maturity.
On the nose
Ripe dark fruits—blackberry and blackcurrant—with understated vanilla and white pepper. Aromatically composed rather than exuberant.
In the mouth
Robust and rounded, with supple tannins and a persistent finish. The structure is evident but not aggressive; the wine carries itself with quiet confidence.
M. Francois
Barréjat offers a genuine expression of Gascon terroir—a wine with character and depth that will appeal to those seeking substance over fashion. It represents the region's capacity to produce serious reds of real drinking pleasure. A thoughtful choice.

CHÂTEAU BARRÉJAT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Château Barréjat farms 40 hectares of Madiran across sandy silts laced with dark gravel, with yields capped at 55 hl/ha. The estate has bottled its own wines since 1967, passing through four generations of the same family; Denis Capmartin took the helm in 1992 and made a decisive investment in 2008 with the construction of an underground cellar, ensuring precise temperature control and consistency throughout élevage. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the discipline of its yields, the typicity of its Tannat, and a range that spans red, white, rosé and sparkling. A reliable address for anyone seeking Madiran in its fullest expression.
