A Chinon refined through careful selection across vintages

  • Philippe Alliet's l'Huisserie represents one of the Loire Valley's most distinguished expressions of Chinon. This appellation has long been recognised by discerning collectors as a jewel of French viticulture, offering authentic terroir character and genuine ageing potential.
  • This is a wine that rewards patience. Whilst approachable in youth, l'Huisserie develops considerable complexity with a few years in bottle, revealing deeper mineral nuances and greater textural refinement that justify revisiting your cellar.
  • A Chinon of genuine character deserves immediate discovery. The 2022 vintage captures the essence of this appellation: fresh, mineral-driven Cabernet Franc with the structure and elegance that define Alliet's philosophy.

Product features : Domaine Philippe Alliet - Chinon Rouge l'Huisserie 2022

Breeding
18 months in oak barrels
On the eye
Deep ruby red with excellent clarity and concentration
On the nose
Red and dark berry fruits with a distinctive mineral undertone. The bouquet is restrained and refined, revealing subtle herbaceous notes characteristic of fine Cabernet Franc.
In the mouth
The palate is driven by pure fruit expression, supported by fine-grained tannins that provide structure without heaviness. A mineral finish of considerable length confirms the wine's terroir authenticity and ageing potential.
M. Francois
This Chinon demonstrates the versatility that makes the appellation so valuable to the serious drinker. It pairs beautifully with traditional French cuisine—a coq au vin or poule au pot would be entirely fitting—but equally rewards contemplation on its own merits. The balance between fruit, tannin and mineral character suggests this wine will continue to evolve gracefully over the next decade.

DOMAINE PHILIPPE ALLIET

Established at Cravant-les-Coteaux in the heart of the Chinon appellation, Domaine Philippe Alliet farms 17 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc across clay-limestone, clay-siliceous and gravelly soils on south-facing slopes. Philippe Alliet, third generation of the family, took over in 1978 and forged a quietly influential style through the 1990s; his son Pierre joined him in 2005, strengthening a lineage built on precision rather than fashion. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its approach — biodynamic practices followed without the pursuit of certification — and for the clarity with which its wines articulate the distinct facets of the Loire terroir. A reliable address for those who want Chinon as it truly is.
