A Loire appellation of genuine distinction

  • Vines of considerable age—between 40 and 70 years—impart depth and complexity to this Chinon. Mature vinestock yields wines of character and restraint.
  • Reasoned viticulture and entirely hand-harvested fruit. The Alliet approach respects both vine and terroir, reflecting a commitment to quality over volume.
  • A Chinon that merits discovery without delay. This is a wine of substance, neither rushed nor over-extracted, ready to reveal itself at table.

Product features : Domaine Philippe Alliet - Chinon Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2022

Breeding
13 months in oak barrels
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet robe, almost black at the core. A wine of evident concentration.
On the nose
Graphite and pencil lead dominate the bouquet, layered with blackcurrant and dark cherry. The fruit is intense yet restrained, the aromatics precise and mineral-driven.
In the mouth
Firm, well-structured tannins provide the backbone. The texture is muscular yet refined, with a suave finish that speaks of mature vines and careful élevage. Considerable length.
M. Francois
Serve alongside roasted duck, game in sauce, or a classic bavette à l'échalote. The wine's structure and mineral character complement rich, savoury dishes admirably. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the tannins to soften.

Nicolas françois, propriétaire passionné des halles de quercamps

DOMAINE PHILIPPE ALLIET

Established at Cravant-les-Coteaux in the heart of the Chinon appellation, Domaine Philippe Alliet farms 17 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc across clay-limestone, clay-siliceous and gravelly soils on south-facing slopes. Philippe Alliet, third generation of the family, took over in 1978 and forged a quietly influential style through the 1990s; his son Pierre joined him in 2005, strengthening a lineage built on precision rather than fashion. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its approach — biodynamic practices followed without the pursuit of certification — and for the clarity with which its wines articulate the distinct facets of the Loire terroir. A reliable address for those who want Chinon as it truly is.
