The distinctive expression of Alain Brumont's Madiran mastery

  • A wine of delicate fruit character, displaying the classic structure and depth that defines this south-western appellation. The balance between power and refinement makes this a serious expression of terroir.
  • Particularly suited to robust dishes: red meat, game, and the spiced cuisines of Gascony, Béarn and the Basque country. Its tannin structure stands up admirably to bold flavours and rich preparations.
  • This wine rewards patience. Laid down for several years in a cool cellar, it will develop further complexity and integration, revealing additional layers of character that justify the investment in time.

Product features : Chateau Bouscasse - Madiran 2018

Breeding
12 to 14 months in French oak barrels. The proportion of new wood varies (approximately 30 to 50 per cent) to avoid over-oaking the wine and allow the terroir to express itself.
On the eye
A deep, dark garnet robe with considerable depth and intensity of colour.
On the nose
The bouquet combines prominent black fruit aromas with quality oak influence. Fresh menthol and black pepper notes provide lift and complexity, creating an inviting and layered aromatic profile.
In the mouth
Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, yet the tannins are well-integrated and refined. Black fruit flavours dominate, supported by a structured backbone that suggests genuine ageing potential.
M. Francois
A classical Madiran that pairs exceptionally well with red meat, game, and the regional cuisines of south-western France—Gascon, Béarnaise and Basque dishes. The wine's structure and fruit intensity make it a natural companion to spiced preparations and rich, savoury cooking. Suitable for cellaring.

VIGNOBLES BRUMONT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Vignobles Brumont spans 300 hectares across the Madiran appellation, on south-facing slopes of reddish rolled pebbles and deep clays. Since 1979, Alain Brumont has made Tannat his signature, establishing Château Bouscassé and Château Montus as the benchmark addresses of the Sud-Ouest — a standing confirmed by five stars from Bettane+Desseauve in 2023, the only estate in the region to hold that distinction. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its terroirs, the consistency of its élevage, and the remarkable ageing potential of its reds over a decade and beyond. A Sud-Ouest address we back without reservation.
