Eight generations of winemaking mastery

  • This Viognier achieves a remarkable balance between aromatic intensity and refreshing acidity. Laurent Miquel's careful handling of the variety yields a wine that is neither heavy nor cloying, but rather crisp, digestible, and profoundly perfumed.
  • Cultivated under reasoned agriculture practices, the vineyard respects both the land and the integrity of the fruit, reflecting a long-standing commitment to sustainable viticulture across eight generations.
  • Named Solas—meaning light in Irish—this wine lives up to its luminous character: a pale golden expression of Viognier that captures sunlight in the glass and brings clarity to the palate.

The Solas Viognier demonstrates Laurent Miquel's mastery of a notoriously difficult variety. Where southern Viogniers often become cloying through lack of acidity, this wine remains fresh and elegant. An ideal introduction to the variety for those seeking aromatic character without excess richness. Pairs beautifully with garlic prawns, roasted crayfish, or sushi.

DOMAINE LAURENT MIQUEL

Based in Cessenon-sur-Orb in the Hérault, Domaine Laurent Miquel farms 200 hectares under certified organic agriculture across the Languedoc appellation. A winemaking family since 1791, Laurent — a trained engineer — took over in 1996 as the eighth generation and made history as the first producer to grow Albariño in France. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the coherence of its viticultural project, the diversity of its terroirs — limestone at Cazal Viel, clay-limestone at Auzines — and the precision of its reds, whites, and rosés. A benchmark address for anyone wishing to explore the full depth of the Languedoc.
