Marsanne, Roussanne

A refined white from the northern Rhône, balancing fruit, florality and terroir

  • This Saint-Joseph Blanc unites Marsanne and Roussanne, two complementary varieties of the Rhône Valley. Marsanne provides structure and body; Roussanne contributes freshness and white floral notes, creating a wine of genuine balance and elegance.
  • Cultivated on the granitic slopes of Saint-Joseph, the wine expresses the mineral character of its terroir whilst retaining the richness characteristic of northern Rhône white varieties. The geology shapes its distinctive profile.
  • Ro-Rée rewards both immediate enjoyment and patient cellaring. Its texture and aromatic complexity evolve over time, developing honeyed and dried fruit notes. A gastronomic white suited to refined dishes—poached fish, roasted poultry, aged cheeses.

Product features : Louis Chèze "Ro-Rée" 2024 Saint-Joseph

Breeding
Aged on fine lees in oak barrels for 8 to 10 months, with a moderate proportion of new wood (20%), which adds richness and complexity without masking the fruit's freshness
On the eye
Pale yellow with golden glints; bright and luminous
On the nose
Expressive bouquet of white flowers—acacia and hawthorn—with white-fleshed stone fruits (peach, pear) and honeyed notes. Aromatic and inviting.
In the mouth
Rich and silken on the palate, with ripe pear and peach, white flowers and honey. Refreshing acidity and subtle minerality provide balance. The finish is long, revealing roasted almond and a saline edge.
M. Francois
A refined expression of northern Rhône white winemaking. The interplay of fruit, floral character and mineral freshness makes this an ideal companion to fish in sauce, roasted poultry or mature cheeses. Balanced and layered, it drinks well now but will develop further complexity with a few years' bottle age.

DOMAINE LOUIS CHEZE

On the granite hillsides of Limony in Ardèche, Domaine Louis Cheze works 35 hectares within the Saint-Joseph appellation, on the right bank of the Rhône. Louis Chèze took over the property in 1978 with a single hectare, building the estate steadily around Syrah for the reds and Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier for the whites, with yields held between 25 and 40 hl/ha depending on the cuvée. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the consistency of its wines, the frank mineral expression of Limony's granite, and the commitment of three generations — Louis, Camille and Benoît Chèze — to one of the northern Rhône's most demanding terroirs. A dependable reference from the Vallée du Rhône.
