Mourvèdre, Grenache

A benchmark estate and reference point in Languedoc

  • This wine demonstrates the generosity and power that characterise the finest expressions from Chateau Puech-Haut. The 2021 vintage captures the richness of the southern Rhône varieties with considerable depth and presence on the palate.
  • The careful balance between Grenache and Mourvèdre creates a wine of considerable harmony. The Grenache contributes fruit-forward character whilst the Mourvèdre provides structure and ageing potential, resulting in a seamless whole.
  • This is a wine built for the cellar. Whilst approachable now, it will develop further complexity over the coming years, rewarding those with patience. The structure and freshness suggest a decade or more of graceful evolution ahead.

Breeding
100% aged in new French oak barrels
On the eye
Deep, sustained colour with excellent concentration
On the nose
Fresh and elegant on the nose, with prominent dark berry fruit, subtle menthol notes and delicate floral undertones that add refinement and complexity
In the mouth
Ample and generous on the palate, with refined dark fruit character, silky tannins and a lingering finish that balances richness with freshness and clarity
M. Francois
This wine pairs admirably with beef dishes of substance—a côte de boeuf would be an excellent match. The wine's structure and freshness cut through the richness of the meat whilst its dark fruit complements the savoury character. Also suited to game and robust Mediterranean fare.

Nicolas françois, propriétaire passionné des halles de quercamps

CHATEAU PUECH-HAUT

Set on the argilo-calcaire slopes and rolled-pebble soils of Saint-Drézéry, north-east of Montpellier, Château Puech-Haut farms 150 hectares in organic conversion within the Languedoc appellation. Founded in 1980 by Gérard Bru on what was once dense garrigue and olive groves, the estate has steadily established itself as one of the region's most consistent addresses, blending Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre for its reds, and Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier for its whites. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the coherence of its range, the precision of its assemblages, and the fresh momentum brought since 2024 by incoming managing director Arnaud Demongeot. A reliable, characterful choice for those who want the Languedoc at its most complete.
