Breeding
In oak barrels (including a substantial proportion of new wood) for 18 months
On the eye
Deep purple robe, nearly opaque at the core, with vibrant violet highlights at the rim.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet revealing dark fruits, truffle, warm spice and toasted oak. The aromatic profile speaks to both fruit concentration and careful élevage.
In the mouth
Intense and profound on the palate with a well-defined tannin structure. The wine carries weight without heaviness, maintaining the calcaire minerality that defines the terroir.
M. Francois
Troplong Mondot embodies the paradox of great Right Bank Bordeaux: simultaneously powerful and refined, rich yet mineral-driven. Its calcaire backbone confers an aristocratic character that distinguishes it from softer, more voluptuous neighbours. A wine for the cellar and the finest table, equally at home with aged cheese as with classic gastronomy.

CHATEAU TROPLONG MONDOT

Château Troplong Mondot stands at the highest point of the Saint-Émilion appellation — 106 metres above sea level — across 33 hectares of clay-limestone soils with flint. Founded in 1745 and promoted to 1er Grand Cru Classé B in 2006, the château reached its zenith under Christine Valette-Pariente, whose 1990 vintage earned a remarkable 98/100 from Robert Parker. Since 2017, the French reinsurance group SCOR has ensured continuity, with the estate now engaged in organic conversion. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its exceptional terroir, the precision of its Merlot-led blends, and a quality trajectory confirmed across vintage after vintage. A Saint-Émilion built for the cellar.
