- Acidity and freshness are hallmarks of this Sauternes. The Sauvignon Blancs are harvested to preserve the wine's natural tension and fruit vibrancy, whilst the Sémillons are picked at light overripeness as noble rot begins to develop.
- The Sauvignon Blanc component is picked early to retain crisp acidity and aromatic intensity, preserving the characteristic citrus and herbaceous tension that defines the blend.
- The Sémillon fruit is harvested in early botrytis, concentrating sugars and complexity whilst maintaining the balance that prevents the wine from becoming cloying.

In the mouth
Nervy and taut on the palate. Grapefruit and mandarin acidity provide structure and lift, with a honeyed mid-palate that never overwhelms. The finish is clean and persistent.
On the nose
Floral notes predominate—acacia and honeysuckle—followed by orchard fruits: white peach, yellow plum, and subtle citrus zest. A mineral undertone adds refinement.
On the eye
Pale gold with bright, luminous clarity.
What strikes me about this wine is the remarkable balance between richness and tension. There is genuine nervous energy here—a beautiful interplay of botrytised fruit and crisp acidity. The palate shows real substance without heaviness. This is Sauternes made with restraint and precision, a wine that will develop beautifully over the coming decades.

CHATEAU D'YQUEM
Château d'Yquem is an estate in the Sauternes appellation (Bordeaux), the only Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 Classification. Area: 113 hectares with 100 under vine. Owned by LVMH since 1999. Grapes: Sémillon (75%) and Sauvignon Blanc (25%). Outstanding sweet wine from successive pickings of botrytised grapes. Average yield: one glass per vine.
