Old-vine Macabeu from 1945: finesse and fruit in harmony

  • The Macabeu grape imparts a distinctive elegance and aromatic character to this wine. Its naturally high acidity and mineral backbone create a wine of considerable refinement, particularly suited to those seeking a white of genuine complexity rather than obvious fruit-forward appeal.
  • This Côtes du Roussillon blanc proves an ideal companion to Mediterranean cuisine. Its balance of citrus acidity and stone fruit makes it equally at home with seafood terrines, grilled fish, or lighter poultry dishes where a wine of restraint and precision is required.
  • The palate reveals a fascinating interplay of baked apple and lemon meringue tart notes, with sufficient complexity to sustain interest through the finish. This is a wine that rewards contemplation, revealing new facets as it opens in the glass.

Product features : Le Clos des Fees les Sorcieres 2024 — Côtes du Rhône Villages

In the mouth
Fruity and airy on the attack, with good weight and precision. The palate is clean and refreshing, with a saline finish that invites another sip
On the nose
Floral and complex, with prominent citrus notes—yellow-fleshed lemon, candied grapefruit zest—alongside white peach, hawthorn blossom, and a whisper of mineral salinity
On the eye
Pale gold with subtle green reflections, suggesting youth and freshness
M. Francois
A distinguished Côtes du Roussillon that demonstrates the potential of mature Macabeu vines. Particularly recommended with seafood terrines, vegetable coulis, and Mediterranean fish preparations. The wine's acidity and mineral character make it a natural pairing for lighter cuisine where subtlety is prized over richness.
