Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes since 1855

  • A benchmark producer of the Sauternes appellation, Château de Rayne Vigneau represents the classical expression of botrytised Semillon from the region's finest terroir. Consistent quality and ageing potential make it a cornerstone holding for any serious cellar.
  • Characterised by expressive aromatics, structural complexity and a silky palate, this wine demonstrates the power and refinement that distinguishes the Premier Cru class. The balance between richness and acidity is notably well-judged.
  • Cellaring for several years will allow the wine to develop further complexity and integration. The botrytis character will evolve, revealing deeper honeyed and dried fruit notes. Patience rewards the collector with a wine of considerable depth.

Product features : Château de Rayne Vigneau 2022 Sauternes 1er Cru Classé 75cl

Breeding
Ageing in oak barrels with 50% new wood each year
On the eye
Deep golden hue with amber undertones, indicating noble rot concentration and maturity potential.
On the nose
Expressive and layered: ripe pear, lime blossom and white pepper lead, with subtle honeyed undertones developing on aeration. The bouquet is refined rather than heavy.
In the mouth
Silky texture with fine acidity providing structure and lift. The palate shows pear and stone fruit with a mineral edge, finishing with a clean, persistent sweetness. Balance and elegance are hallmarks.
M. Francois
A wine of genuine distinction. I find Rayne Vigneau's consistency across vintages remarkable—it never overshoots the mark, preferring elegance to excess. The 2022 is no exception. Try it with blue cheese, particularly Roquefort, where the wine's acidity cuts beautifully through the salt and richness. Or simply enjoy it as a meditation wine in the evening. This is Sauternes as it should be: complex, rewarding, and built to age gracefully.
