A wine of considerable ageing potential

  • The 2023 vintage offers a particularly fine expression of Monbazillac's character. This wine will reward those who appreciate the subtlety of Bergerac's sweet wines, and will grace any table with distinction.
  • Restraint defines this wine: no cloying sweetness, but rather a refreshing acidity that carries through to a subtle, lingering finish with a whisper of bitterness that adds complexity.
  • Supple and harmoniously balanced, this Monbazillac stands as a compelling alternative to the better-known Sauternes, offering genuine character at a more measured investment.

In the mouth
Elegant and well-structured on the palate, with a fruited finish that echoes the nose. The wine maintains freshness throughout, concluding with a refined, lingering aftertaste.
On the nose
The bouquet expresses itself with aromas of ripe peach and exotic stone fruits, with a delicate floral undertone that develops with aeration.
On the eye
Luminous golden-yellow colour with bright, clear appearance.

Versatile at table: serve as an aperitif, or pair with melon, Roquefort, game in rich sauces, and fruit salads. Particularly distinguished alongside foie gras and dark chocolate. Best enjoyed at 8–10°C.

CHATEAU HAUTE-FONROUSSE

Set across 33 hectares of clay-limestone hillsides above the Dordogne valley, at Monbazillac and Pomport, Château Haute-Fonrousse produces white, red and rosé wines under the Bordeaux appellation. The Géraud family has been rooted in this vineyard since 1870; in 1962, Gaston Géraud purchased the château from a Belgian family, laying the foundations for an estate that Stéphane Géraud now runs with quiet rigour across plateaux, valleys and hillsides planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon, Muscadelle and Merlot. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its cuvées, the honest expression of its Périgord terroir, and the sound relationship between careful work and accessible pricing. A Bordeaux of real character, firmly rooted in the Dordogne.
