A discreet cuvée from the domaine's finest parcels

  • Whilst Chinon is celebrated for its reds, the whites merit equal attention. This white expression showcases the appellation's capacity for elegance and finesse, offering a compelling alternative to the region's better-known offerings.
  • Sourced from a modest parcel of less than one hectare positioned on a slope with clay, silica and limestone soils. These varied mineral substrates impart complexity and definition to the wine's character.
  • Cultivated with reasoned viticulture practices and harvested entirely by hand, respecting both the fruit and the vineyard's natural rhythms. This approach ensures optimal ripeness and purity of expression.

Product features : Domaine Philippe Alliet - Chinon 2023

In the mouth
A Chenin Blanc of considerable freshness and structure. Firm phenolic matter delivers a refined tannic grip on the finish, providing excellent definition and ageing potential. The palate balances fruit expression with mineral tension.
On the nose
Initial aromas of fresh apricot and quince blossom, followed by a mineral quality with delicate oak influence. The bouquet evolves with aeration, revealing layers of white flowers and subtle stone-fruit complexity.
On the eye
Brilliant pale gold with subtle green reflections
Breeding
Aged for 12 months in oak (33% new, 33% one-year-old and 33% two-year-old barrels)
M. Francois
A wine of considerable versatility at table. Its mineral backbone and phenolic structure make it particularly suited to poached cod with tarragon beurre blanc, where the wine's acidity and subtle oak complement the delicate sauce beautifully. Also excellent with shellfish and lighter fish preparations.

DOMAINE PHILIPPE ALLIET

Established at Cravant-les-Coteaux in the heart of the Chinon appellation, Domaine Philippe Alliet farms 17 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc across clay-limestone, clay-siliceous and gravelly soils on south-facing slopes. Philippe Alliet, third generation of the family, took over in 1978 and forged a quietly influential style through the 1990s; his son Pierre joined him in 2005, strengthening a lineage built on precision rather than fashion. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its approach — biodynamic practices followed without the pursuit of certification — and for the clarity with which its wines articulate the distinct facets of the Loire terroir. A reliable address for those who want Chinon as it truly is.
