A refined Provençal wine of substance and terroir

  • Established in 1830 on the slopes near Aix-en-Provence, Chateau Simone benefits from north-facing vineyard parcels planted on calcareous scree soils. These conditions impart distinctive minerality and structure to the wine.
  • A traditional blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre with supporting varieties, this wine displays considerable aromatic complexity: dark berries, white pepper, garrigue and tobacco leaf, underpinned by the mineral character of the terroir.
  • Chateau Simone Rouge rewards patience. In youth it offers ripe fruit and fine tannin structure; with age it develops leather, forest floor and truffle notes, revealing greater complexity and elegance over a decade or more.

Breeding
Exclusively in wood, first in small oak vats for 8 months, then for a year in oak barrels of varying ages, blended at bottling without filtration.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with brick-toned rim, suggesting considerable ageing potential.
On the nose
Complex bouquet of ripe dark berries—blackcurrant and black cherry—interwoven with white pepper, liquorice, tobacco leaf and subtle garrigue. The aromatics deepen with air.
In the mouth
Well-structured palate with refined tannins. Blackberry and plum flavours meld with pepper and liquorice notes, finishing with mineral freshness from the limestone terroir. The wine evolves in the glass, revealing developing forest and truffle character.
M. Francois
A serious Provençal wine that balances power with refinement. Its aromatic richness, fine tannin structure and proven ageing potential make it an excellent companion to roasted game, beef and mature cheeses. Decanting enhances its complexity. A wine of genuine terroir character, worthy of a proper cellar.
