A refined Provençal wine of substance and terroir

  • Vineyard planted on north-facing slopes with calcareous scree soils near Aix-en-Provence. The Rougier family has stewarded this estate since 1830, maintaining traditional methods and respect for the distinctive Palette appellation.
  • A classical blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre with supporting varieties. The wine displays considerable aromatic complexity: ripe dark fruits, white pepper, garrigue and tobacco leaf, underpinned by the mineral freshness of limestone terroir.
  • Chateau Simone Rouge rewards patience. Young, it offers fine structure and ripe fruit character. With time in cellar, it develops secondary notes of leather, forest floor and truffle, revealing the depth of its terroir.

On the eye
Deep garnet robe with tiled reflections, indicating fine ageing potential
On the nose
Complex and layered bouquet: ripe blackcurrant and black cherry, white pepper and liquorice, with undertones of tobacco leaf, leather and wild herbs
In the mouth
Well-structured palate with fine, silky tannins. Dark berry fruits and plum meld with white pepper, liquorice and leather. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with evolving notes of forest floor and truffle developing with age
M. Francois
A serious Provençal wine combining power with refinement. Its aromatic richness, elegant tannin structure and genuine ageing potential make it an ideal companion to roasted meats, game and aged cheeses. The wine's evolution in bottle reveals considerable complexity. Essential for those who appreciate wines of genuine terroir character and classical structure.

CHATEAU SIMONE

Perched on the north-facing hillsides of Meyreuil, east of Aix-en-Provence, Château Simone farms 23 hectares at the heart of AOC Palette — one of Provence's smallest and most discreet appellations. Once the property of the Grands Carmes monks in the sixteenth century, the estate passed to Nicolas-Toussaint Rougier in 1830; it was his great-grandson Jean Rougier who secured the AOC Palette classification in 1948, cementing the estate's place in Provençal wine history. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the singular character of its calcaire de Langesse soils, the rigour of the Rougier family across four generations, and the rare ageing potential of its reds, whites and rosés. A Provence address that needs no introduction to those already in the know.
