A true expression of Madiran terroir

  • A characterful red wine from the Madiran appellation in south-west France. Built on a framework of firm tannins and dark fruit, this cuvée demonstrates the structure and depth that define the region's finest offerings.
  • An ideal companion to robust meat dishes—particularly game, duck confit, and slow-cooked casseroles. The wine's natural power and grip make it a reliable choice for the table of anyone who appreciates wines of substance.
  • Approachable upon release, yet sufficiently well-made to reward patience. This is a wine that benefits from a few years in a cool cellar, developing complexity whilst retaining the immediacy of fruit that makes it equally enjoyable now.

In the mouth
Full-bodied and structured, with a firm grip of well-integrated tannins. The palate is frank and direct, with good length and a dry finish that speaks to the wine's serious character and food-friendly nature.
On the nose
Red and dark berry fruits dominate—blackcurrant and plum—with emerging notes of oak and subtle spice. The aromatics suggest both youth and the potential for development.
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet. A wine of evident concentration and maturity.
Breeding
Aged 12 months in two-year-old oak barrels.

Château Barréjat Cuvée Séduction will prove an excellent partner to duck confit, game stews, and other dishes of similar weight and richness. The wine's structure and tannin profile make it particularly suited to leisurely meals where the food and wine can develop together over the course of an evening.

CHÂTEAU BARRÉJAT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Château Barréjat farms 40 hectares of Madiran across sandy silts laced with dark gravel, with yields capped at 55 hl/ha. The estate has bottled its own wines since 1967, passing through four generations of the same family; Denis Capmartin took the helm in 1992 and made a decisive investment in 2008 with the construction of an underground cellar, ensuring precise temperature control and consistency throughout élevage. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the discipline of its yields, the typicity of its Tannat, and a range that spans red, white, rosé and sparkling. A reliable address for anyone seeking Madiran in its fullest expression.
