Singular terroir on a narrow Devonian limestone vein

  • Certified organic since 2001, Domaine Patrick Baudouin practises sustainable viticulture across its holdings in the Loire Valley, respecting the natural balance of this distinctive terroir.
  • A refined and mineral expression of Cabernet Franc, this wine demonstrates the elegant restraint characteristic of quality Anjou reds, with structure and finesse rather than weight.
  • Cabernet Franc of this calibre on such distinctive geology remains uncommon. The narrow limestone vein imparts a particular mineral precision that distinguishes this vintage from broader regional examples.

Product features : Domaine Patrick Baudouin Anjou Rouge la Fresnaye 2013

Breeding
Partly in tank, partly in barrels for 12 to 24 months
On the eye
Bright ruby red with excellent clarity and depth of colour
On the nose
Intense red fruit aromas—cherry and redcurrant—interwoven with subtle spice notes and a mineral undertone characteristic of the limestone subsoil
In the mouth
Supple and rounded on the palate, impeccably balanced with a refreshing acidity that carries through to a lengthy finish. Delicate yet structured, with good grip and persistence. Gourmand without excess.
M. Francois
A versatile table wine. Serve alongside charcuterie, roasted veal, or poultry with wild mushrooms. The wine's natural acidity and mineral backbone make it equally at home with lighter preparations as with more substantial fare. Decant briefly if serving from a cool cellar.
