The complete expression of Gigondas terroir

  • Produced from vines exceeding fifty years of age, this wine captures the depth and concentration that only mature vineyards can deliver. The age of these plants imparts remarkable structure and complexity to the final blend.
  • The wine demonstrates impressive length on the palate, with flavours that unfold gradually and persist with considerable refinement. This persistence is the hallmark of serious winemaking from a distinguished appellation.
  • Subtle oak ageing in large wooden vessels enhances rather than dominates, allowing the noble Rhône varietals—Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre—to express their inherent aromatic character with clarity and nuance.

In the mouth
Silken in texture, with delicate red fruit flavours interwoven with the concentrated intensity of preserved dark fruits. The palate builds to a superbly spiced and peppery finish, demonstrating both refinement and power in harmonious balance.
On the nose
Complex and inviting, with aromas of preserved plum and fig mingling with darker stone fruit notes. The bouquet develops gradually, revealing layers of spice and garrigue beneath the initial fruit impression.
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet. A robe of considerable intensity and substance.
Breeding
Ageing in Allier oak barrels for 24 months
M. Francois
An ideal companion to substantial sauced dishes and game preparations. The wine's inherent elegance and finesse also make it surprisingly versatile with refined preparations such as truffle-based dishes, where its complexity complements rather than overwhelms the secondary flavours.
