Plateau terroir expressing power with elegant restraint

  • This wine captures the distinctive character of Castillon's highest plateau: a marriage of the appellation's natural power with a crystalline freshness that elevates the whole. The calcaire-rich soil preserves acidity whilst allowing ripe fruit expression.
  • The von Neipperg signature—evident across their Saint-Émilion and Castillon holdings—brings meticulous viticulture and measured élevage. The result is a wine of genuine complexity: dark fruits, supple structure, and a tension that rewards attention.
  • Stephan von Neipperg's portfolio (Canon La Gaffelière, La Mondotte, Clos de l'Oratoire, Guiraud) reflects a philosophy of terroir-led winemaking. At Château d'Aiguilhe, this translates to wines of substance and finesse, built for the cellar.

Breeding
Approximately 15 months in French oak barrels (30% new wood)
On the eye
Deep purple-garnet robe, bright and luminous at the rim.
On the nose
Ripe dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—with leather and fine oak integration. The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing subtle mineral notes from the plateau terroir.
In the mouth
Warm, rounded entry leading to a palate of real structure. Solid tannins provide grip without harshness; a welcome acidity runs through, giving the wine lift and definition. The finish is persistent and clean.
M. Francois
Château d'Aiguilhe sits on one of Castillon's highest points, where calcaire soils preserve the freshness essential to fine Bordeaux. The von Neipperg family has crafted a wine that balances the appellation's inherent power with elegant tension—a wine of real breeding, neither over-extracted nor timid. Cellaring potential is evident.
