Eight generations of Bordeaux family winemaking

  • Lanessan stands amongst Bordeaux's oldest family properties, with eight generations of accumulated knowledge reflected in each vintage. The house maintains its commitment to traditional viticulture and measured élevage, preserving the character of the Haut-Médoc terroir.
  • This 2023 displays the hallmark balance of the appellation: harmony between ripe fruit and structured tannins, with an elegance that speaks to careful vineyard management and thoughtful winemaking. The wine possesses both immediate appeal and the architecture for graceful maturation.
  • The wine shows genuine ageing potential, with sufficient structure and concentration to develop further complexity over the coming decade. Cellaring will allow the tannins to integrate and secondary flavours to emerge, rewarding patience with added depth.

Product features : Chateau Lanessan 2023 Haut-Medoc — Haut-Médoc

Breeding
Approximately 12 months in French oak barrels
On the eye
Deep garnet red with violet reflections, characteristic of young Médoc wines
On the nose
Aromas of cherry and blackberry mingle with cassis and subtle spice, revealing the wine's youthful vigour and varietal character
In the mouth
Well-structured on the palate with firm, fleshy tannins and a persistent finish. The mid-palate shows good weight without heaviness, with flavours echoing the nose and a clean, dry conclusion
M. Francois
A wine of classical proportions that pairs well with roasted and braised meats. Consider it alongside beef with spiced preparations, game, or substantial vegetable-based dishes. The structure will complement rich sauces and allow the wine's own flavours to remain distinct and clear on the palate.

CHATEAU LANESSAN

Established at Cussac-Fort-Médoc on 45 hectares of deep Garonne gravel, Château Lanessan produces exclusively red wines under the Haut-Médoc appellation. Founded in 1793 by Jean Delbos and guided through eight generations by the Bouteiller family, the château passed in 2022 to Treasury Wine Estates, which has since broadened its ambitions considerably. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blends, with Merlot lending roundness and Petit Verdot adding depth — a thoroughly classical Médoc profile. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its vintages, the clarity of its gravel terroir, and its HVE certification, all of which underpin a reliable quality-to-price ratio within the appellation. A benchmark Haut-Médoc for lovers of classical Bordeaux.
