The second wine of Château Ducru Beaucaillou

  • A wine built for the cellar. La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou possesses the structure and pedigree to develop gracefully over the coming decades, rewarding patience with increasing complexity and refinement.
  • Elegance and restraint define this Saint-Julien. Despite its concentration, the wine maintains a refined composure, with polished tannins and a silken texture that speaks to meticulous winemaking.
  • Remarkable length on the palate. This is a wine of substance that lingers with purity and definition, revealing layers of dark fruit and mineral character that persist long after each sip.

Breeding
Aged in new oak barrels for 12 months.
On the eye
Deep purple-violet in colour, nearly opaque at the core, with a dark intensity that suggests considerable concentration.
On the nose
Pristine aromatics of blackcurrant cream, dark cherry and ripe plum. The bouquet is pure and well-defined, with no rough edges, developing gradually in the glass.
In the mouth
Substantial yet architecturally sound. The palate is structured by abundant tannins of exceptional fineness—polished rather than aggressive—that provide a firm backbone without overwhelming the fruit. The wine has considerable weight and presence.
M. Francois
This wine will shine alongside duck ballottine, roasted veal or a fine cheese course. Its structure and elegance make it an ideal companion to game and rich poultry preparations. Best enjoyed from 2027 onwards, though approachable now for those with patience.
