Bottle of : 75cl
Sauvignon 75%, Sémillon 25%

A singular white from the Left Bank, shaped by Atlantic terroir

  • Cos d'Estournel's white is a rarity in Bordeaux: a Sauvignon-Sémillon blend that combines the structure of the Left Bank with the bracing freshness of the Atlantic coast. This is a wine of restraint and distinction, not exuberance.
  • The 2023 vintage captures the interplay between Sauvignon's tension and Sémillon's silken texture. Pale gold in colour with silver glints, it opens with iodine-tinged minerality and a whisper of vanilla from careful oak élevage.
  • Serve this wine with aged goat's cheese or mature Comté, where the wine's acidity cuts through the richness of the cheese. It rewards contemplation rather than casual drinking, and will develop further over the next five to eight years.

Product features : Château Cos d'Estournel 2nd Cru Classé 2023 Bordeaux AOC

Breeding
Approximately 12 months exclusive use of French oak barrels.
On the eye
Pale gold with luminous silver reflections
On the nose
Mineral notes with an almost iodine character, evoking coastal proximity, mingled with subtle vanilla from oak maturation. The bouquet unfolds gradually rather than announces itself.
In the mouth
Lively acidity underpins a wine of genuine density. Sauvignon Blanc provides the structural tension whilst Sémillon contributes a silken texture through the mid-palate, creating an elegant balance between freshness and weight.
M. Francois
Cos d'Estournel Blanc represents something genuinely distinctive in Bordeaux. It possesses the power and structure of the finest Pessac-Léognan whites, yet retains a uniquely Atlantic freshness. This is a wine that persuades through character rather than obvious charm—a study in restraint and terroir expression that rewards patient tasting.

CHATEAU COS D'ESTOURNEL

Set on the hillsides of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d'Estournel covers 100 hectares classified as a 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, now fully organic since 2024. Founded in 1811 by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel — nicknamed the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe for his pioneering trade with India — the château embodies the depth and structural precision of this appellation: deep quaternary gravels, Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, and a measured élevage that rewards patience. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its organic commitment, exceptional terroir, and the remarkable consistency of a classified growth that ages with genuine distinction.
