  • This wine displays a compelling aromatic palette that rewards patient tasting. The interplay of dark fruit and spice develops with time in glass, revealing the complexity that careful viticulture in challenging terroir can achieve.
  • Patience will be rewarded. This is a wine of genuine structure that merits cellaring. Opening it in its youth would be to miss the evolution that will unfold over the coming years as the tannins integrate and secondary flavours emerge.
  • The wine reflects its origin in the Agly valley, where south-facing granite hillsides at altitude create conditions of real complexity. These granitic soils, with their mineral character, impart a distinctive framework to the fruit.

In the mouth
Well-defined tannin structure supports ripe dark fruit with a savoury edge. The wine has genuine substance and grip, with flavours that persist without heaviness. A wine of balance rather than excess.
On the nose
Blackcurrant and blackberry with white pepper and dried herb notes. The aromatics are restrained and precise rather than immediately voluptuous, speaking to the wine's underlying seriousness.
On the eye
Deep, intense colour suggesting concentration and structure
M. Francois
This is a natural accompaniment to cured meats and charcuterie, where its tannins and acidity provide excellent counterpoint to salt and fat. It would equally suit game terrines or a simple plateau of quality cold cuts. The wine's structure suggests it will develop further over five to eight years.
