Five generations of family winemaking expertise

  • This wine expresses the distinctive character of Saint-Joseph's granitic soils and shallow bedrock. The terroir speaks clearly through the wine's mineral structure and concentrated dark fruit profile, typical of the northern Rhône's finest expressions.
  • La Sensonne is a rare, limited production cuvée that merits serious consideration alongside the celebrated wines of Côte-Rôtie. Its complexity and depth reveal why Domaine Coursodon commands respect among serious collectors of northern Rhône Syrah.
  • This is a harmonious, well-structured wine built for the cellar. Patient cellaring will reward you with further complexity and refinement. Expect the wine to develop beautifully over the next decade or more.

In the mouth
Full-bodied and powerful yet refined. The palate shows excellent concentration of dark fruit, integrated tannins, and a mineral backbone that provides structure and length. The finish is persistent and elegant.
On the nose
Richly aromatic with ripe black berries, morello cherry, floral notes of violet and peony, white pepper, and subtle mineral undertones. The bouquet is complex and inviting, developing further with aeration.
On the eye
Deep garnet red with good intensity and clarity
M. Francois
This wine pairs particularly well with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine—grilled lamb, herb-crusted fish, vegetable tians, and tomato-based dishes all find natural harmony with its structure and fruit profile. It would also complement charcuterie and aged cheeses. Serve at 16-17°C after brief decanting.

DOMAINE COURSODON

Based in Mauves, Ardèche, Domaine Coursodon farms 16 hectares of steep granite and schist terraces in the Saint-Joseph appellation, Vallée du Rhône. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the estate has passed through five generations: Jérôme Coursodon joined his father Pierre in 1998 and has steadily established it as one of the appellation's most authoritative addresses, producing Syrah-based reds and whites from Marsanne and Roussanne. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its élevage, the taut minerality of its whites, and the depth of its reds from terraces overlooking the Rhône. A characterful, HVE-certified estate we recommend without reservation to lovers of serious Saint-Joseph.
