Terroir expression through Marsanne and Roussanne

  • Silice represents a refined marriage of Marsanne and Roussanne, two noble varieties of the northern Rhône. This blend captures the mineral essence of Saint-Joseph's distinctive terroir, delivering a white wine of considerable aromatic depth and textural refinement.
  • Each glass reveals the layered complexity of Saint-Joseph's granite and schist soils. The wine balances pronounced minerality with white stone fruits, creating a compelling interplay between structure and elegance that speaks directly to the vineyard's character.
  • This wine proves exceptionally versatile at table. Its weight and mineral backbone complement fish in cream sauces, whilst its freshness pairs beautifully with hard cheeses and lighter poultry dishes. A wine that elevates the everyday meal.

In the mouth
Rich, supple texture balanced by lively acidity. White stone fruits dominate, with citrus notes adding definition. A whisper of white pepper on the finish provides pleasant length and a touch of spice that lingers pleasantly.
On the nose
Delicate floral notes of acacia blossom mingle with white peach and pear. Subtle hints of vanilla and honey emerge, inviting the palate without overwhelming it. The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing further complexity.
On the eye
Brilliant, pale gold with greenish glints. Clear and luminous, indicating careful winemaking.
Breeding
Precise winemaking and controlled élevage on fine lees to enhance the wine's complexity and texture.

Domaine Coursodon's Silice demonstrates why Saint-Joseph blanc deserves greater recognition amongst serious wine drinkers. The 2023 vintage shows excellent balance between richness and freshness. Particularly recommended with fish in cream sauce, or simply as an aperitif wine of genuine substance. Drink now through 2028.

DOMAINE COURSODON

Based in Mauves, Ardèche, Domaine Coursodon farms 16 hectares of steep granite and schist terraces in the Saint-Joseph appellation, Vallée du Rhône. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the estate has passed through five generations: Jérôme Coursodon joined his father Pierre in 1998 and has steadily established it as one of the appellation's most authoritative addresses, producing Syrah-based reds and whites from Marsanne and Roussanne. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its élevage, the taut minerality of its whites, and the depth of its reds from terraces overlooking the Rhône. A characterful, HVE-certified estate we recommend without reservation to lovers of serious Saint-Joseph.
