Gascony's richness and depth in every glass

  • This blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot captures the character of the Côtes de Gascogne. The wine demonstrates the region's ability to produce reds of substance and refinement, with a structure that rewards patient appreciation.
  • Well-balanced tannins and a sustained finish make this wine an excellent companion to robust dishes. Red meats, game, and mature cheeses find natural partners in its generous body and textured palate.
  • Oak élevage has imparted spice and subtle wood notes that add complexity to the wine's core of dark fruit. This layering elevates what might otherwise be a straightforward regional wine into something with genuine depth.

In the mouth
A robust, rounded palate with supple tannins and good weight. The finish is persistent and clean, leaving a pleasant impression of red fruit and subtle spice.
On the nose
Ripe dark fruits—blackberry and blackcurrant—with emerging notes of vanilla and white pepper from the oak. The aromatics suggest both fruit-driven character and careful winemaking.
On the eye
Deep, intense garnet colour, characteristic of serious Gascony reds
M. Francois
This wine offers a genuine expression of Gascony's terroir, with sufficient complexity to engage serious red wine drinkers. It represents good value for those seeking a wine of character—neither over-extracted nor over-oaked, but balanced and food-friendly. A sound choice for the cellar.

CHÂTEAU BARRÉJAT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Château Barréjat farms 40 hectares of Madiran across sandy silts laced with dark gravel, with yields capped at 55 hl/ha. The estate has bottled its own wines since 1967, passing through four generations of the same family; Denis Capmartin took the helm in 1992 and made a decisive investment in 2008 with the construction of an underground cellar, ensuring precise temperature control and consistency throughout élevage. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the discipline of its yields, the typicity of its Tannat, and a range that spans red, white, rosé and sparkling. A reliable address for anyone seeking Madiran in its fullest expression.
