In the mouth
Full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and pure fruit expression. The palate shows good structure and length, with a savoury mineral undertone characteristic of the granite-based terroir.
On the nose
Intense and layered bouquet revealing dark berry fruit, white pepper, violet, and a subtle leather note. The aromatics develop with air, showing good complexity and maturity.
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet with purple highlights; dense and concentrated appearance.
Breeding
16 months in new oak barrels (15%), one-year oak barrels (30%), two-year oak barrels (55%)
A wine of substance suited to robust fare: roasted lamb, braised beef, or aged cheeses. The balance of power and refinement makes it equally rewarding as a standalone meditation. Cornas of this calibre merits patient cellaring and thoughtful service.

Domaine Courbis is a family wine estate in Châteaubourg (Ardèche), Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations (Northern Rhône Valley). Run by Laurent and Dominique Courbis. Around 35 hectares of vines. Grapes: Syrah (reds), Marsanne and Roussanne (whites). Cuvées: Les Eygats, La Sabarotte (Cornas). Steep granitic terraced hillside vineyards.
