Breeding
Aged in oak barrels to add complexity whilst respecting the fruit.
On the eye
Deep, dark ruby. A wine of evident concentration and character, promising substance in the glass.
On the nose
Intense aromas of blackcurrant and black pepper, with a subtle smoky undertone characteristic of properly ripened Syrah. The bouquet develops with air.
In the mouth
Rich and voluptuous on the palate. Ripe dark fruits, violet and spice notes are supported by a well-defined tannnic structure. The wine possesses good length and a satisfying finish.
A wine of genuine substance, suited equally to accompanying robust, flavourful dishes or to contemplative drinking on its own. The 2022 vintage shows good maturity and will reward patience in the cellar. Decanting is recommended before service.

Domaine Courbis is a family wine estate in Châteaubourg (Ardèche), Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations (Northern Rhône Valley). Run by Laurent and Dominique Courbis. Around 35 hectares of vines. Grapes: Syrah (reds), Marsanne and Roussanne (whites). Cuvées: Les Eygats, La Sabarotte (Cornas). Steep granitic terraced hillside vineyards.
