A wine of considerable keeping potential

  • The 2021 vintage presents a Monbazillac of considerable charm. This moelleux offers the balance and refinement to delight at table, whether as an aperitif or paired with your finest courses.
  • Restrained in residual sugar with a refreshing finish and subtle bitter notes, this wine eschews excess in favour of elegance. A harmonious expression of the appellation.
  • Supple and well-structured, this Monbazillac stands as a thoughtful alternative to the more opulent Sauternes, offering similar complexity at a different register.

In the mouth
An elegant and balanced palate with stone fruit character throughout. The finish remains fruited and clean, with a gentle persistence that invites reflection.
On the nose
The bouquet expresses ripe peach alongside exotic stone fruits, with a subtle floral undertone characteristic of the terroir.
On the eye
Luminous golden yellow
M. Francois
This liquoreux performs admirably as an aperitif, yet reveals its true character alongside melon, blue cheeses, and rich sauces. Equally at home with foie gras and dark chocolate. A versatile companion to fruit-based desserts and lighter patisserie.

CHATEAU HAUTE-FONROUSSE

Set across 33 hectares of clay-limestone hillsides above the Dordogne valley, at Monbazillac and Pomport, Château Haute-Fonrousse produces white, red and rosé wines under the Bordeaux appellation. The Géraud family has been rooted in this vineyard since 1870; in 1962, Gaston Géraud purchased the château from a Belgian family, laying the foundations for an estate that Stéphane Géraud now runs with quiet rigour across plateaux, valleys and hillsides planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon, Muscadelle and Merlot. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its cuvées, the honest expression of its Périgord terroir, and the sound relationship between careful work and accessible pricing. A Bordeaux of real character, firmly rooted in the Dordogne.
