Pomerol cultivated with reasoned viticulture

  • The vineyard's average vine age of fifty years contributes depth and concentration to the wine, whilst maintaining the freshness and elegance characteristic of the appellation.
  • This vintage demonstrates a refined equilibrium between structural power and subtle complexity — neither overwhelms, both work in concert on the palate.
  • We are pleased to offer this château-quality Pomerol at a fair price, reflecting our direct relationship with the property and our commitment to value.

On the eye
Deep ruby with garnet reflections
On the nose
Discreet violet florality mingles with dark plum and a whisper of graphite, developing subtle earthy undertones with aeration.
In the mouth
The palate is supple and dynamic, with fine-grained tannins and good length. Merlot-led structure with supporting Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
M. Francois
A wine of genuine charm and balance. I would pair this comfortably with roasted lamb cutlets or a well-hung beef fillet. It drinks well now, yet will develop gracefully over the next eight to ten years. A thoughtful gift for the serious claret enthusiast.

VIEUX CHATEAU CERTAN

Set on the central plateau of Pomerol in the Gironde, Vieux Château Certan covers 14 hectares in a single block, its deep clays and gravels placing it at the very heart of one of Bordeaux's most sought-after appellations. Founded in the sixteenth century and recorded under its present name from 1745, the château has been in the hands of the Belgian Thienpont family since 1924, today guided with quiet authority by Guillaume Thienpont. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the singular character of its blend: Cabernet Franc plays a structuring role alongside Merlot, lending its reds a tension and aromatic complexity that set them apart within Pomerol. A benchmark of the appellation, and one we are proud to list.
