The complete expression of Gigondas terroir

  • Produced from vines exceeding fifty years of age, this wine captures the depth and complexity that only mature vineyards can deliver. The extended élevage in large oak vessels preserves the delicate balance between fruit intensity and structural refinement characteristic of the finest Gigondas.
  • A wine of impressive length, where the initial fruit expression extends seamlessly into a sustained, peppery finish. The palate demonstrates the architecture and persistence expected from serious Rhône reds of this calibre and age.
  • The élevage in large foudres is deliberately restrained, allowing the noble Grenache and Syrah to express themselves without excessive oak influence. This measured approach reveals rather than masks the complex aromatic signature of the vineyard.

In the mouth
Silky and refined, with delicate red fruit flavours interwoven with the concentrated character of preserved dark fruits. The wine unfolds across the palate with elegance, culminating in a distinctly spiced and peppery finish of considerable finesse.
On the nose
Intense and layered, offering preserved plum and fig alongside secondary notes of dried herbs and mineral undertones. The aromatic profile speaks clearly of the southern Rhône's distinctive terroir.
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet with subtle brick undertones reflecting maturity and structure.
Breeding
Ageing in Allier oak barrels for 24 months
M. Francois
An ideal companion to substantial sauced dishes—game with rich reductions, beef en sauce, or slow-braised preparations. The wine's refined structure and aromatic complexity also pair beautifully with more delicate fare, including truffle-based dishes where its peppery notes provide sophisticated counterpoint.
