The second wine of Château Margaux

  • Pavillon Rouge represents the finest expression of Château Margaux's second selection. This wine embodies the rigorous standards applied to every bottle released under the Margaux appellation, offering genuine complexity and breeding at a more approachable level than the Grand Vin.
  • The 2022 vintage demonstrates considerable ageing potential. The wine's structure and balance suggest a graceful evolution over the coming two decades, developing greater nuance and secondary characteristics with time in bottle.
  • A wine of distinctive character: poised between classical elegance and contemporary freshness, with the complexity one expects from this prestigious address. The palate shows admirable refinement without sacrificing the substance that defines serious Margaux.

Product features : Pavillon 2022 — Margaux

In the mouth
Lively and well-balanced on the palate, with fine-grained tannins and a whisper of cedarwood from the oak régime. The mid-palate shows pleasing richness and textural depth, finishing with elegant restraint and good persistence.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet of ripe cherry and floral notes, with delicate elderflower and subtle herbal undertones. The aromatics develop gradually, revealing the wine's inherent refinement and careful élevage.
On the eye
Brilliant ruby red with promising depth and clarity
Breeding
In oak barrels for 18 to 20 months
M. Francois
A wine of considerable versatility at table. Particularly suited to refined preparations: foie gras preparations, truffle-based dishes, or classically roasted beef. The wine's freshness and structure make it equally rewarding as an aperitif wine or paired with lighter game dishes. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the aromatics to fully express themselves.

CHATEAU MARGAUX

Château Margaux extends across 262 hectares at Margaux-Cantenac in the Gironde, at the heart of the Bordeaux appellation, on gravelly croupes widely regarded as among the finest on the Left Bank. Restructured from 1572 by the de Lestonnac family and classified a 1er Grand Cru in 1855, the château was decisively revived from 1977 under André Mentzelopoulos; his family continues to lead the estate today, with Alexis Mentzelopoulos at the helm since 2023. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the coherence of its vineyard, the precision of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led assemblages, and the singular character of its dry white, Pavillon Blanc, produced entirely from Sauvignon Blanc. A Bordeaux landmark we are proud to offer.
