A Fourth Growth of genuine elegance and structure

  • This is a wine of considerable complexity and depth. The 2022 vintage reveals the hallmark characteristics of Saint-Julien: refined tannins married to a supple, fruit-driven character that speaks to the quality of the vintage and the precision of the house.
  • Saint-Julien's reputation rests on wines of this calibre. Chateau Saint-Pierre seduces with its restrained expression of dark berries and gentle spice, a profile that rewards those who appreciate subtlety over ostentation.
  • The wine possesses considerable length on the palate, a sign of the concentration and balance achieved in the cellar. This is a wine built for patient cellaring, though it offers genuine pleasure in its youth.

Breeding
Aged in barrels for 14 to 16 months, of which 50% new oak.
On the eye
A deeply coloured wine, its robe showing violet-tinged purples characteristic of the vintage.
On the nose
An elegant bouquet that unfolds with notes of vanillin oak, dark cassis and blackberry, underpinned by gentle spice. The aromatic profile is restrained and classical, speaking to the wine's breeding.
In the mouth
A wine of considerable structure, with powerful tannins that are nonetheless refined and integrated. The texture is velvety, balancing concentration with freshness, and closing with a sustained, mineral finish.
M. Francois
This wine pairs admirably with game preparations—roasted wild boar, venison loin, or the rich terrines of south-western France. Its structure and elegance make it equally suited to beef dishes with earthy accompaniments. Decant one hour before service to allow the wine to open fully.

CHATEAU SAINT-PIERRE

Château Saint-Pierre covers 17 hectares of Günzian gravel in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. First recorded in 1693 under the name 'Serançan' and classified as a 4th Grand Cru in 1855, the château was reunified by Henri Martin in 1982 and subsequently passed to his daughter Françoise Triaud and her family. With Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for 75% of the blend, the château produces structured, age-worthy reds vinified with rigour at controlled yields of 35 to 45 hl/ha. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the integrity of its terroir, the continuity of family stewardship, and its commitment to organic conversion. A benchmark Saint-Julien, true to the spirit of the appellation.
