In the mouth
The palate is generous and well-structured, with substantial but refined tannins that frame the fruit without dominating. Good volume and length suggest this wine will reward cellaring, developing further complexity over the medium term.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with elegant complexity: ripe dark fruits are joined by hints of graphite and subtle spice. The nose is restrained rather than showy, revealing its character gradually as the wine breathes.
On the eye
Deep purple robe of considerable intensity, suggesting a wine of substance and maturity potential.
Breeding
Aged 16 months, 40% in new oak barrels.
M. Francois
This Latour-Martillac pairs excellently with the classic French charcuterie and cheese board: aged Comté, a proper Saint-Nectaire, or a fine saucisson aux truffes would all show the wine to advantage. It would equally complement a simply prepared duck confit or game terrine.
