The second wine of Château Grand-Puy Lacoste

  • A classic Pauillac blend, built on the noble varieties that define the appellation. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and ageing potential, whilst Merlot and Cabernet Franc add roundness and complexity.
  • A wine of considerable structure, yet with the suppleness that marks fine Pauillac. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, suggesting a wine that will develop gracefully over the coming years.
  • Crafted using traditional methods refined over generations at Grand-Puy Lacoste. Each vintage reflects the house's commitment to expressing terroir through careful viticulture and measured élevage.

In the mouth
Structured and well-balanced on the palate. The tannins are round and present without harshness, providing a framework for the wine's fruit expression. A dry finish with good length.
On the nose
Aromas of ripe dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—interwoven with subtle spice notes and a hint of cedar. The bouquet develops with air, revealing further complexity.
On the eye
Deep ruby-red, with the colour intensity characteristic of fine Left Bank Bordeaux.
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels (fine grain) with 45% new wood for 14 to 16 months depending on the vintage.
M. Francois
A natural companion to charcuterie and red meats, particularly those prepared with sauce. Consider it alongside a beef daube, a braserade, or game birds such as quail with grapes. The wine's structure will support richer preparations without overwhelming more delicate dishes.

CHATEAU LACOSTE-BORIE

Château Lacoste-Borie is produced in Pauillac, Gironde, across 90 hectares of deep gravel ridges on the celebrated Bages plateau. As the second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste — a 5th Classified Growth of the 1855 classification — it was first made in 1978 when the Borie family took over the property, today led by François-Xavier Borie. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc delivers the firm tannic structure that defines Pauillac, with an earlier accessibility that the grand vin does not seek. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its viticulture, certified both Terra Vitis and HVE, and for the compelling balance it strikes between true Pauillac character and considered value. A Pauillac of real substance, faithful to its gravels.
