A Third Growth of distinction since 1855

  • The Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot provide the wine's backbone: a framework of complexity and measured power that defines the character of this vintage.
  • Merlot brings roundness and generosity to the palate, whilst Cabernet Franc contributes finesse and aromatic subtlety, creating a harmonious whole.
  • This is a wine that rewards patience. The structure evident now will develop further over the coming decade, revealing greater complexity and integration.

In the mouth
The attack is fresh and engaging, with immediate appeal. The mid-palate fills with volume and structure; tannins are refined rather than aggressive, providing a framework for the fruit without dominating.
On the nose
Dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—mingle with discreet spice notes and a whisper of cedar. The bouquet is composed and elegant, unfolding gradually.
On the eye
Deep garnet, with a lustrous intensity that speaks to the wine's concentration.
Breeding
18 months
M. Francois
A wine of genuine pedigree. Kirwan 2022 is an ideal companion to grilled red meats and classic meat-based sauces. The balance between fruit, tannin and acidity suggests a wine that will evolve gracefully over fifteen to twenty years.

CHATEAU KIRWAN

Situated in Cantenac, Gironde, Château Kirwan is a 3rd Grand Cru Classé of the Margaux appellation, spanning 37 hectares of Pyrenean gravel over a clay subsoil. Founded in the seventeenth century by the de la Salle family, the château took its name from Irish merchant Mark Kirwan in 1760, before passing to the Schÿler family in 1925. The east-facing vineyard blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to produce structured, characterful reds, now certified HVE. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its viticulture, the coherence of its encépagement, and its reliability across vintages in one of Bordeaux's most demanding appellations. A Margaux of fine pedigree — precise, generous, and built to age.
