The elegance and freshness of a Graves Grand Cru Classé

  • Château Carbonnieux Blanc ranks amongst the most distinguished Grand Cru Classés of Graves, situated within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This historic estate, established in the thirteenth century, has long been recognised for white wines of remarkable purity.
  • The domaine is celebrated for whites that marry freshness with aromatic complexity, displaying considerable ageing potential. Young vintages reveal vibrant citrus and floral character, whilst mature bottles develop the honeyed, waxy notes characteristic of fine Graves.
  • This 2022 may be enjoyed in its youth for crystalline freshness and vivacity, yet possesses the structure to develop beautifully over time. The wine will evolve, gaining layers of dried fruit and honeyed complexity whilst retaining its essential elegance and mineral backbone.

In the mouth
Youthful palate displays admirable freshness, purity and aromatic intensity, balancing fruit and floral notes with precision. With age, the wine develops dried fruit and preserved fruit character, gaining complexity and broadening its gastronomic versatility considerably.
On the nose
Expressive and refined bouquet. Citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit mingle with exotic fruit—pineapple and mango—alongside white flowers, particularly hawthorn. A subtle oak influence adds further dimension.
On the eye
Pale golden yellow, bright and transparent
Breeding
Approximately 10 months in barrels and large wooden vats (25% new oak)
M. Francois
A refined expression of Graves character. Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2022 demonstrates the equilibrium between freshness, aromatic richness and structure that defines the finest white Bordeaux. Its elegance suits seafood, white fish in sauce, poultry and mature cheeses admirably. Capable of ageing with grace, it will appeal to those who appreciate the finesse and complexity of serious Pessac-Léognan.
