A Premier Grand Cru Classé since the 1855 Classification

  • Rayne Vigneau represents an assured choice within the Sauternes appellation, offering the richness and complexity one expects from a Premier Cru Classé. This 2022 vintage demonstrates the estate's consistent mastery of noble rot and careful élevage.
  • The wine displays remarkable luminosity and power without sacrificing finesse. Its complexity unfolds gradually, revealing layers of fruit and spice that reward patient tasting. The balance between sweetness and acidity is notably refined.
  • Whilst approachable now, this vintage will develop further over the next five to ten years in a cool cellar. Time will deepen its character and allow secondary flavours to emerge, making it an excellent candidate for cellaring.

Breeding
Ageing in oak barrels with 50% new wood each year
On the eye
Deep golden hue with amber reflections, suggesting maturity and concentration.
On the nose
Aromas of roasted apricot and dried mango intermingle with bitter orange peel and marmalade notes. The bouquet is layered and inviting, with subtle spice undertones.
In the mouth
Silken and generous on the palate, with a honeyed richness that never becomes cloying. The wine possesses remarkable viscosity balanced by crisp acidity, creating an elegant finish that lingers pleasantly.
M. Francois
This Sauternes finds its natural complement in blue cheeses of character—a glass alongside Roquefort or Fourme d'Ambert creates an exceptional pairing. The wine's sweetness and complexity enhance the cheese's pungency whilst the wine's acidity cuts through richness beautifully. A classic French combination that rewards exploration.
