CHATEAU LA GURGUE
Set on 10 hectares of deep white graves and sandy-gravelly soils in the commune of Margaux, Château la Gurgue produces exclusively red wines under the Margaux appellation, farmed to Demeter-certified biodynamic standards. Acquired in 1978 by Jacques Merlaut and revived by his daughter Bernadette Villars, the château has been led since 1993 by Claire Villars-Lurton, who took the helm following the accidental death of her parents — and has since built one of the most quietly rigorous estates in the appellation. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the integrity of its biodynamic conversion, the typicity of its Margaux terroir, and the remarkable consistency of a family project sustained with conviction for over thirty years. A Margaux of genuine character.
