A rare Médoc white: Sauvignon and Sémillon in perfect balance

  • White Bordeaux from Médoc remains uncommon—fewer than a dozen châteaux produce them. Blanc de Chasse-Spleen represents this exceptional category with distinction, combining the structure of the appellation with the elegance of its constituent varieties.
  • This is a wine of genuine equilibrium. The palate displays citrus and stone fruit character with a subtle gourmand quality, neither austere nor heavy. The blend of Sauvignon and Sémillon allows both freshness and complexity to coexist.
  • Chasse-Spleen is among Médoc's most respected properties, with a history of consistent quality across its range. The white wine benefits from the same rigorous viticulture and winemaking standards applied to its celebrated red wines.

In the mouth
The wine enters with good weight and definition. Citrus and stone fruit flavours develop across the mid-palate, supported by a clean, mineral backbone. The finish is sustained and balanced, with no sharp edges—a wine of restraint and breeding.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with delicate white flowers—acacia and hawthorn—followed by notes of citrus zest and exotic fruit. There is a mineral undertone characteristic of fine Bordeaux whites, with no heaviness or oxidative character.
On the eye
Pale gold in colour, with a bright, luminous appearance
M. Francois
Blanc de Chasse-Spleen pairs naturally with oysters and other shellfish, where its acidity and mineral character enhance rather than overwhelm. It is equally suited to goat's cheese or fresh, creamy cheeses. Serve at 8–10°C to appreciate its subtlety. This is a wine for the table rather than the tasting room—a genuine food wine from a serious house.

CHATEAU CHASSE-SPLEEN

Sitting on the celebrated Grand-Poujeaux plateau in Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen covers 107 hectares of some of the most consistent Médoc gravel soils in the appellation. Born from the partition of the Grand-Poujeaux estate in 1822, the château was acquired in 1976 by the Merlaut family, today represented by Céline and Jean-Pierre Villars-Foubet, who have steered it towards Terra Vitis and HVE certification and expanded its footprint significantly with the purchase of neighbouring Château Brillette in 2022. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its reds, the precision of their élevage, and the clarity of a long-term viticultural vision. A dependable reference for anyone seeking Moulis at its most assured.
