In the mouth
The palate is at once powerful and refined. Ripe tannins provide structure without harshness, whilst the wine's natural acidity maintains freshness throughout. The finish is generous and lingering, with a pleasant return of dark fruit character.
On the nose
An inviting bouquet of dark berries—blackcurrant and damson—with secondary notes of plum and subtle mineral undertones. The aromatics are well-defined without excessive volatility, suggesting careful élevage.
On the eye
Deep ruby-garnet robe with excellent clarity and luminosity
M. Francois
This wine pairs excellently with roasted red meats and game birds. Consider it alongside duck breast with honey glaze and warm spices, or with aged cheeses such as Saint-Nectaire or Comté. It would also complement a well-made beef daube or coq au vin admirably. The wine's balance makes it sufficiently versatile for informal dining, yet structured enough for more formal occasions.
