The second wine of Château Margaux

  • Pavillon Rouge represents one of the finest second wines produced in the Médoc. Crafted from the same exacting standards as its grand vin, it offers genuine complexity and breeding at a more approachable stage of maturity.
  • This vintage displays considerable cellaring potential. The wine's structure and balance suggest a decade or more of graceful evolution, developing further nuance and integration as it matures in bottle.
  • The hallmark of Pavillon is its refined equilibrium: elegant fruit expression, layered complexity, and a persistent freshness that prevents any heaviness. A wine of considerable finesse and restraint, true to the Margaux terroir.

Pavillon 2021 pairs beautifully with refined cuisine: consider it alongside a truffle omelette, or with beef fillet enhanced by duck foie gras. Its balance and structure also complement roasted game birds and aged cheeses. Drink now or cellar with confidence.

CHATEAU MARGAUX

Château Margaux extends across 262 hectares at Margaux-Cantenac in the Gironde, at the heart of the Bordeaux appellation, on gravelly croupes widely regarded as among the finest on the Left Bank. Restructured from 1572 by the de Lestonnac family and classified a 1er Grand Cru in 1855, the château was decisively revived from 1977 under André Mentzelopoulos; his family continues to lead the estate today, with Alexis Mentzelopoulos at the helm since 2023. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the coherence of its vineyard, the precision of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led assemblages, and the singular character of its dry white, Pavillon Blanc, produced entirely from Sauvignon Blanc. A Bordeaux landmark we are proud to offer.
