The second wine of Château Lagrange

  • A wine of genuine elegance and harmony, Les Fiefs de Lagrange demonstrates the house's commitment to refined winemaking. The balance between structure and finesse reflects careful selection and considered élevage.
  • Château Lagrange practises reasoned agriculture, respecting the terroir whilst minimising environmental impact. This philosophy extends to the production of its second wine, ensuring quality at every stage.
  • The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a judicious addition of Petit Verdot, creates a wine of notable equilibrium. The structure is present without heaviness; the fruit is clear and well-defined.

Breeding
14 months in oak barrels of which 20% new
On the eye
Deep ruby with purple reflections, suggesting youth and vitality.
On the nose
Black and red fruits dominate the bouquet—blackcurrant and plum with subtle undertones of graphite. The nose is clean and expressive without excessive oak influence.
In the mouth
The palate shows admirable freshness and balance. Ripe tannins provide structure whilst acidity maintains definition. The finish is elegant and lingering, with no harsh edges.
M. Francois
A wine of genuine food-friendliness. Pair with aged Comté or Saint-Nectaire for a classic pairing, or with roasted game birds and beef dishes. The wine's restraint and balance make it equally suitable for lighter fare. Drink now or cellar for five to eight years.

CHATEAU LAGRANGE

Château Lagrange spans 118 hectares at Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, on the highest günzian gravel ridges in the appellation, reaching 24 metres at their peak. First recorded in 1631 and classified as a 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the château was acquired by the Suntory group in 1983 and transformed through one of the Médoc's most thorough renovation programmes — restoring both vineyard and cellars to their rightful standing. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its vintages, the precision of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend, and the genuine alignment between its historic classification and the quality we find in the glass. A benchmark Saint-Julien: HVE-certified, firmly structured, and built for the cellar.
