A wine of enduring distinction

  • The terroir of Cos d'Estournel expresses itself through a harmonious balance of structure and finesse. The 2021 vintage captures the essence of its gravelly plateau with remarkable precision and textural sophistication.
  • Saint-Estèphe's most celebrated expression, this wine combines the muscularity expected of the appellation with an uncommon refinement. The 2021 offers both immediate appeal and considerable cellaring potential.

Product features : Chateau Cos d'Estournel - 2nd Cru Classé 2021 — Saint-Estèphe

Breeding
Aged in 80% new oak barrels for 18 months.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with excellent clarity and intensity.
On the nose
Complex bouquet revealing ripe dark fruits, vanilla and toasted oak. The aromatics develop with aeration, suggesting layers of graphite and cedar beneath the initial fruit expression.
In the mouth
The palate is round and generous, supported by a supple, silken structure. Tannins are refined rather than austere, allowing the wine's natural elegance to emerge. Well-integrated oak and balanced acidity provide excellent definition.
M. Francois
Cos d'Estournel combines the athletic power characteristic of Saint-Estèphe with a textural refinement more often associated with Pauillac. This is a hedonistic, compelling wine that rewards contemplation. Pair with roasted red meats, lamb tagine, pork fillet or veal with mushrooms. Excellent now, yet built for the cellar.

CHATEAU COS D'ESTOURNEL

Set on the hillsides of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d'Estournel covers 100 hectares classified as a 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, now fully organic since 2024. Founded in 1811 by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel — nicknamed the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe for his pioneering trade with India — the château embodies the depth and structural precision of this appellation: deep quaternary gravels, Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, and a measured élevage that rewards patience. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its organic commitment, exceptional terroir, and the remarkable consistency of a classified growth that ages with genuine distinction.
